EVALUATION

Image
REPORIENTATION EVALUATION   Some minutes will be quite enough to peruse the 26weeks if there be any progress or retrogression in our affairs. Could it be we moved five paces forward and ten paces backwards. Or the wheels are stuck in the muds and we kept on applying muscles on the throttle. Could it be that we are more protected now than then or security doesn't even exist anymore here. I wouldn't know if our roads are safe until the day closes and no sad news is aired. Oh, every other matter must have been resolved and we are up, since the next elections is what they are running after like a ball. Won't the never ending slayings and abductions cease?  Would some more children suffer not writing their promotional examinations? Sincerely, I know not. Maybe, may not be. Switching from pseudo khaki to Adire, swapping national anthems and making good but not important laws are what we have chosen to pursue even for more than 6 months. Amidst this thick clouds of fear, confu...

Nigeria: On Your Mandate We Shall Stand

Image
REPORIENTATION   Nigeria: On Your Mandate We Shall Stand " A tree doesn't make a forest" so goes for the timeless popular adage within various cultural settings over the years. The case of Nigerians living in Nigeria should not be an exceptional case at all but with the realities on ground one may be tempted to conclude that Nigerians are no longer interested in standing and protecting the mandate of Nigeria any longer. Gone are the days of promotion of virtues, integrity, self service, honesty, commitment, loyalty, mutual understanding, dedication, obedience, observance of rule of law, regional development among other things that could be regarded as our pride and national assets. But today reverse is the case because of what we are witnessing are direct opposite of what we should be witnessing in the country.  Like the great apostle Paul wrote to the people at Galatians, "O foolish Galatians, and who has bewitched you... I put it to every Nigerian that, "O ...

WE WILL NOT KEEP QUIET

Image
REPORIENTATION   WE WILL NOT KEEP QUIET  Seconds roll into a minute, Minutes into an hour, Hours into a day, Days into a week, Weeks will soon roll into a month, And months into a year, and it goes on and on. Folding our arms to watch the enemy take all that is ours is not the best posture. We need to take a posture that demands accountability, protection, fairness and empathy. Words will fail me if I choose to describe our present state in terms of security and how unmoved our leaders are. Would it be another ridiculous song of moving on and granting amnesty to the merchants of death destroying our seeds? Now that the future has been taken captive in the wilderness, what are we living for? Tell me, what are we living for? Now, tell me, who exactly can be justified in a nation that normalises grief? Do not forget, a shot has been fired, we should all expect a recoil, screams have gone forth, echoes would soon be heard. A grave is being dug, and a nation is gradually sink...

THE LAST WALL OF DEFENCE

Image
REPORIENTATION   The Last Wall of Defence The captain of a ship cannot defend it alone. Every man on deck is a wall of defence, and together, they become a formidable force, stronger than the Great Wall of China or the ancient walls of Jericho. Yet, a compromise by just one man can sink the entire ship. Evil thrives in a willing heart and spreads in chains. Whether from the top down or the bottom up, a single loophole in the wall gives way to the deceitful thread of evil. Those entrusted to secure lives now toy with them. Brothers no longer recognise their own. Tears and blood have become freely flowing commodities. No one seems ready to stand as a wall of defence. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye. The consequences of yesterday’s evil have become our reality today... and if we remain insensitive, the consequences of today’s evil will shape tomorrow. No one is coming to save us. You and I are the last wall of defence. Let it stop with me. Let it stop with you. Then the ...

IN MOTION

Image
REPORIENTATION   IN MOTION   In motion, progress should be the bedrock whether slow or fast, it may not matter but we must move. When no movement is observed, death is suspected, for it is characteristic of living things to move. When terrorists begin to move faster than a state can imagine,  trouble is logging in, when bandits device better frameworks, problem is refreshing and when abductors have better security intelligence, the Window of "wahala" is just starting.  My saying is simple; our system is not effective. The priority of a working system is the security of its citizens alike- young and old. A bad system will see no wrong in insecurity because the ones in charge always walk in armour tanks.  We have better things to invest in and security is at the base of the list. We are as vulnerable as a roofless building. Oh! We are yet to settle within our walls, how do we add ornaments to our great walls? Do we have to wait till our gates are knocked wi...

True Love

Image
True Love There are many national ingredients and elements that make a country to grow to the desired taste of citizens. Part of those national ingredients and elements include - patriotism, love, mutual understanding, honesty, peaceful co-existence, contentment, respect, integrity and lots more. Like a country of our status and national assets we have many things to offer the global village. However, before we go to international stage to deliver any resourceful and purposeful results we need to go national and local first as a matter of seriousness on our parts. We cannot be desirous of mending the roof of our distant villages when our own roofs are equally leaking.  If our leaders are serious at all and truly desire to portray themselves as good ambassadors of the country then let it be that they demonstrate true love and concern for the citizens with their words, lifestyles and attitudes. It's an open secret that our leaders are living large at the expense of the citizen...

EMPOWERMENT

Image
REPORIENTATION EMPOWERMENT A knapsack sprayer, #5,000 plus free lunch is enough empowerment for a constituency: nothing empowers better than a full tummy, I guess. Our feeble hands are raised by their free lunch and in less than five hours the clouds of hunger begins to gather. After making great sacrifices to the gods, so that we may bid poverty farewell, it keeps giving us warm welcome as it awaits us even before we get home, handling us cups of chilled juice for a fresh start. Maybe the gods are too busy to pacify poverty or we are not doing the rituals well. Surely, it is the latter.  What we do is pruning. We prune poverty to create more branches rather than uproot its entirety. What many government organizations and the NGOs in this country do is no bigger than a joke, since their concealed goal is to make a name for themselves and not really to empower. They only want to show power NOT to give power to the underprivileged members. A redefinition of goals is one major thing t...

Our Survival

Image
Our Survival He who will not fear the shedding of blood is not fit to lead his people; afterall upon whom shall he govern in the first place.  Nigeria today has become a theatre of war, violent killings, ethnic cleansing and unimaginable attacks against citizens of the country. If there's anything that is so dear to the citizens of the country at a time like this as when compared to air it is the ability to survive all the ordeals and enjoy lasting peace, harmony, acceptance and mutual understanding among all citizens of the country regardless of religion, tribe and cultures.  The country is heterogeneous in nature when it comes to ethnicities identification and so also the country is of various religious affiliations thereby known and addressed as a secular state. So it is of essence to understand that if the leaders in the country fail to give understanding to the fact that they are leading a country of multifaceted religions then the citizens must not fail as well to...

NATIONAL EMBARASSMENT

Image
REPORIENTATION NATIONAL EMBARASSMENT People in their mighty callousness, do what they know how to do best, wielding the sword of corruption and making a mess of our values. Our splendour they income; the kingdom they vendor, yet  they are more catholic than the Pope and more islamic than  Mohammed (S.A.W). Partial judgements torment us like the  EFCC even monarchs show their bicep muscles in the events. Their holiness fades with the setting of the sun and the moon comes with her spotlight on their atrocities. Yet, we take no step towards cleansing; politicians do their worst and seek refuge in the party at the top where immunity resides.  Why should we keep our flag flying when stain has added a third colour to it? Should we continue to embarrass our nation before the whole world when others are raising their flags higher? Let us settle for a rethink and wash with hyssop, our beloved characters. ... and for a better Nigeria, I will not be an embarassment to th...

On Nigeria's Soil we stand

Image
REPORIENTATION On Nigeria's Soil we stand The roles played by soil to the survival of any plant in agriculture is of immense quantities. Also, the roles of soil to sustaining the erection or establishment of a building on it is of crucial impacts.  As Nigerians we sleep and rise upon the soil of our beloved country and quite unfortunate myriads of the citizens of the country have lost hope, become anemic and thirsty on account of series of unpalatable events in the country.   "Woe unto us if we dare lose hope because life don't usually give us the straight line graph in solving our issues rather we are usually confronted with the many puzzles to solve to get the desired results.  Let it be known that Nigeria's Soil is still very fertile to support agricultural practices, to sustain vocational trainings, to aid the legal practices in businesses and commerce, to help the citizens survive economic hardships. Anyone that tells you that Nigeria's Soil isn't fertil...

COOK UP

Image
REPORIENTATION COOK UP Cooked or not, rice is rice but it actually makes more sense when cooked. I am very sure it does. What else could release the aroma buried within and deal with hunger?  Does anyone cook without planning? Sure, you must have had it in mind to fry, boil or "jollof it," it all depends on you, the doer of the action. The wonderful cook finds the resources needed to satisfy her craving after seriously considering her pocket.  Simply, what we do in our quests for a heavy pocket is no different from the above. We cook up stories and write a whole drama to cover up our shameful acts. You must have heard and read how men stole the soup with the pot without even forgiving the coal-pot. They only show up pointing their fingers at the wind as the criminal with full confidence and  all is well.  Loans are taken in billions and trillions; projects are declared in millions and at the end, balancing the equation becomes a herculean task. Lifeless buildi...

How long must we wait?

Image
REPORIENTATION How long must we wait? How long are we going to wait till our clouds fully form and the rain of justice begins to fall? How long shall we endure the silence of barren soil while the seed of a new nation fights for breath beneath it? How long are we going to wait till our political prophets' perfect prophecies come into reality? My hands tremble. My soul tremors, not from hunger for food, but from the pressure of injustice piled over time. I feel like a disaster waiting to happen, not out of personal anguish, but out of a collective national ache, the accumulative seismic stress caused by men who sit on high, and whose devotion is to their bellies. Into damnation or paradise, how long shall I wait before I erupt! How long! Comrades, how long! Life flying away as little birds, each breath of the citizen has been a gamble, lives are being snuffed out of them by the same who sworn to be a shield, the people are being baptised in hot springs of their own blood to cleanse ...

Audacity of Truth

Image
REPORIENTATION                     Audacity of Truth In a country where there is no truth, the power of lies would submerge and plunge such country into the abyss of darkness and ruthlessness. For far too much we have borne untold hardships, excruciating pains, religious intolerance, insecurities, ethnic cleansing, perversions in diverse forms among other national woes that have crippled the national economy and dragged lives of several Nigerians into the ditch of hopelessness, begging, starvation, inability to rise to desired heights financially, maritally, economically, academically etc. However, in the midst of the aforementioned chaos, challenges and problems we still need to find comfort to soothe our aching hearts. We need to tell ourselves the truth about the current situations in the country.  Many citizens want to eat from the tables of the politicians an...

ELO FOKAN BALE

Image
REPORIENTATION Elo Fokan Bale The best song to sing this season is Elo Fokan Bale. Even when prices of commodities are triple - Elo Fokan Bale. And when ritual killings have become the order of the day - Elo Fokan Bale.  The safety of both high and lowly is not guaranteed due to kidnapping- Elo Fokan Bale. The rate of suicide increases on a daily basis - Elo Fokan Bale. Children now become orphans because parents kill themselves over a pot of soup - Elo Fokan Bale. Promiscuity has become a means of escape from hunger - Elo Fokan Bale. We can go on and on to mention the ills this country is facing presently but in all we have to truly Fokan Bale with the hope that this too will pass. We need to be intentional about our lives so that this season won't turn us to monsters and make us do the regrettable like the ones whose hearts have been seared with hot iron.  ... and for a better Nigeria, I am intentional about my deeds THE REORIENTATORS ✓0301 Facebook: REPORIENTATION X:TEAM RE...

MY AGRICULTURAL JOURNEY 1

Image
MY AGRICULTURAL JOURNEY 1 My first agricultural journey was one I took as led( nooooo, don't ask me who led me). It was days away from my Passing out Parade from National Service when the battle started in me,  "what will you do, thence?"  I knew not what the next step should be, obviously. The NCCF Ekiti state conference brought me to the table with Pastor Adetunji Aribasoye a farming farmer, the great CEO of LAWRAC FARMS ADO-EKITI. Just as he was taking his part of the programme, my spirit was trumpeting, "the man is here and the  time is now." Though, I was behind the camera during the programme as one of the members of the media team, it didn't stop me from jumping out of the hall after his teaching to say, "God bless you, sir." Did I say that? I am sure I didn't, it was my prayer request I brought before him. The great man was excited to grant my prayer request of being an intern on his farm and gave me his contact address. I never...

ÒTÈ

Image
REPORIENTATION ÒTÈ The humming of bees is all that creeps into the ears They erect their abode just behind the walls And great shall be the shape of the rubble on their scalps The fall of the skies won't be a danger to just one Shhhhhh, two will not just inherit the pains for all The soup is cooked with the mouth of two and the feast sponsored by three They said the eyes of "Lagbaja" was found in the mouth of "Tamedo" Boom! It becomes pandemic, peace thus become a topic for historians "Egbìnrìn òtè" The end of which is non-existent Family against family Wounds that never heal It becomes the games of generations Purposes and destinies receive torture And gbam!  Glories with fortunes are murdered A mouth that doesn't rest sets the world on fire And explanations without evidence can never be short No one hoes fault towards themselves They only plan and spread the shame like wildfire Boo! They dash him away unto solitude He enters reservation mode and ...

TAP

Image
REPORIENTATION TAP "It takes two eyes to reproduce but takes two hundred eyes to raise the child." That is the Yoruba saying that explains this theme clearly. The existence of the taps tagged public is becoming history in our society. Although, the recent generation may have no experience of such, the older generations will always smile at a flash of its memories.  The public taps are open classrooms in the communities in which they are errected. These classrooms are meant to raise loving and disciplined children. Children play and learn from one another and from the elders. They are trained up in the culture of the society which sticks with them eternally.Youths are taught the way up. The good are encouraged here while the bad and the ugly are corrected and remanded. Everyone get their character moulded in the presence of great role models. Battles and parties; wars and friendships are regular shows at the station. Trucks of information and invitations travel quickly witho...

OUR HEAD

Image
REPORIENTATION OUR HEAD Like the proverbial statement in South Western Nigeria, "The head must never be misplaced for walking as the feet." In Nigeria today, it's quite obvious that several of the social ills we are battling with are a result of leadership crisis. One cannot but ask that, what is the chief problem constituting nuisance to the progress and development of our dear country? Is it about the people in leadership or the nature of followership.  One thing that stands sure is that we all are Nigerians before anybody assumes any role, serving in the interest of the country. The head is to provide direction, coordination, reasoning, support, insights, wisdom and lots more for the overall successful positioning and advancement of the body. Without the head, the entire body would be useless and unproductive.  The situation of things is getting rougher on a daily basis because we've lost touch between our head and body due to many natural and artificial factors li...

JUST BEFORE THE COUP D'ÉTAT

Image
REPORIENTATION JUST BEFORE THE COUP D'ÉTAT We are better may just be at speech; being better is best shown in actions. Taking what's not yours is nothing but a cloaked theft just as colonization is but a planned robbery. A group of terrorists agreed to oppress the helpless in disguise. They carefully chose their baits to get their victims because they see the value and aesthetics they can't match. Only desperate people organize a coup, their greed fuel the revolution and the end there of is worse than the beginning. Taking by force what belongs to others is simply encouraging chaos on a canoe offshore. A great robber can not make life easy for all, he will never give up his business.  Who chases a rat away and makes a cat oversee a plate of fried fish and laughs last? The coup may not always produce good leadership, things become even worse under their administration. But just before executing the coup, consider your ways carefully. A good life can never be attained via an...

SAME WAVELENGTHS

Image
REPORIENTATION     SAME WAVELENGTHS The world is busy, yes, it really is. The business of futility is what delights her, she moves about a point without rest like the hand reading seconds on grandfather's clock. Who will rescue who? No one shows up when their enemy is in agony. When the saviour can't rescue the oppressed being oppressed right before his very eyes with his over ability, it effortlessly explains that he gave the whip to the oppressor in the beginning of times and seasons. Let somebody stop acting green as though they were  saints! Our cattle dogs would not even move an inch, all they want is to shine and be fine. No rush to brush, you only live once. Just once and you are planning to empty the treasury full throttle. Who doesn't want solace when we all are getting depressed by association? But remember that offices abide till the end of age but their managers change from time to time which implies that history never ends. Whatever you do will always be engr...
