EMPTY PROMISES


As a country, we are at a crucial moment. As the days roll by, the inevitability of selecting new representatives to pilot the hem of affairs of the government dawns brighter on us. 


We're constantly fed with various information ranging from messages of hope and motivation to pompous harangues by individuals with myriads of intentions.

An underlining factor common to these individuals; both well-meaning and the ones who belie their true motives is a cloak of promises they wear in their campaigns and admonitions. 



No doubt, words are very important as they help to convey intentions and meanings from one person to another but If we're to judge people solely on what they say, we would almost certainly be wrong and remiss especially because people do not always mean what they say and they do not always do what the say.  


Thus, measurement can be tipped from mere words to credible evidence as shown in the persona's history and record. Undoubtedly, people may change but we will have more moral rationalization and fortitude to defend our choice if it is based on precedence and evidence rather than mere words. 


Consequently, we can ask questions like "Show us what you can do" by showing us what you have done and convincing us of what you're capable of. If we're to bank merely on empty promises, the fruition of the promises is almost guaranteed to be realised in a week from never.

Thus, we can easily identify guile and defenestrate people of such ilk. 


...and for a country in need of selfless and visionary leaders, we'll not bank on empty promises.

  REPORIENTATION SEMBLANCE Why wear the coats of a servant when you know the shoes of a king is what suits you?  We appear to kneel but our hearts sits like a queen. Our voices say good morning but our faces have a firm grip on rods,  beating breath out of man on a bad morning.  We are the exact opposite of our barks.  A man who owes tax but killed a fat goat for festivity has done more harm than good. He may be crowned a saviour for providing what the mouth enjoys for the few he knows but should also be stoned for depriving the hundreds he knows not, some social amenities. Why we do what we do matters just as what we do.  We can't hide our shadows but it is not something to worry about when our location is right.
