APATHY

Politics as we have come to realise has evolved into a filthy brew of unpleasantness. Our politicians have perfected the craft of utilizing this filthiness to their personal advantage. Every now and then, we are saddled with the responsibility of choosing a new leader in the different arms of government in our society. 


On the other hand, we are fed with different streams of information by seemingly ‘well meaning’ individuals on topics ranging from government, politics, leadership and the masses. The problem arises when information make rounds especially through social media platforms. As a result, different conspiracy theories arise. The problem with these theories is that they blur the lines between truth and falsehood. Consequently, everybody is left to take their stand and decide where they belong. 



One of the unfortunate victims of conspiracy is our electioneering process. We have been made to believe that our votes do not count. As a result of, many citizens have deliquesced into apathy. This is not only harmful in that it robs the citizens of their franchise but also favours the individuals making personal gains from the filth in our political system.



However, the amount of resources pooled together for campaign and the election process by various aspiring candidates is so humongous that it causes one to wonder if the candidates are so passionate about the people or motivated by their purse. Which beg the questions, if votes do not count, why is so much resource put into campaign process? Why do some resort to violence during counting of the votes? Perhaps we should re-examine our stance.



… and for a country committed to exterminating apathy!

  REPORIENTATION SEMBLANCE Why wear the coats of a servant when you know the shoes of a king is what suits you?  We appear to kneel but our hearts sits like a queen. Our voices say good morning but our faces have a firm grip on rods,  beating breath out of man on a bad morning.  We are the exact opposite of our barks.  A man who owes tax but killed a fat goat for festivity has done more harm than good. He may be crowned a saviour for providing what the mouth enjoys for the few he knows but should also be stoned for depriving the hundreds he knows not, some social amenities. Why we do what we do matters just as what we do.  We can't hide our shadows but it is not something to worry about when our location is right.
