THE NEXT SET OF LEADERS

On my trip to the giant community, all I could hear was elections, leaders, power, rulers, and expectations. I then decided to take a deep dive into the inner part of the community. My first stop was where I met parents and their children (youth) talking, believing the parents would deliver great speeches. All I heard them telling their children was to stay indoors and wait for their return as the polling booth was a no-go area for them. They concluded that the next set of leaders had already been chosen. 


I moved to another part of the community where the elders were and I was eager to learn from the elders. On getting there I heard them saying the polling booth is a no-go area as the youth had been paid by the politicians to disrupt the election process, as such they and their households would be staying indoors. I left in disappointment.


Moving to the part of the community where the youth were in large numbers. The  fun-filled area where youthful spirit was highly exhibited. They were also discussing the next set of leaders for the community and they were worried about the fact that the elders of the community might have been bribed by the politicians to vote  them and that their vote might not count. They have forgotten that they own the major share of the community population.


I finally left to pay homage to the leaders, the rulers, the politicians, and ones on the seat of power, for it is a custom to visit them whenever you visit the community as a sign of respect. To my surprise, I was made to understand the assumptions and the fears that have been created in the residence and to the weapons engaged over the years and as such, they have nothing to worry about. They further explained that the disunity and greed among the youth won’t allow them  exercise their civil rights. As for the elders and the parents, the fear of election crises and disagreements won’t let them come out to vote.


I left the giant community in confusion as my heart was heavy with unanswered questions:


Who is going to be the next Community Leader?

How will the next set of community Leaders emerge?What criteria will be used to choose the next set of community leaders? Who is going to elect the next set of community leaders?What is the stand of the youths as regards the coming elections?

How long will the elders and parents live in fear of elections in, polling booths, and election crises?


If all residents of the community are not ready to go the extra mile in electing her leaders who will?

  REPORIENTATION SEMBLANCE Why wear the coats of a servant when you know the shoes of a king is what suits you?  We appear to kneel but our hearts sits like a queen. Our voices say good morning but our faces have a firm grip on rods,  beating breath out of man on a bad morning.  We are the exact opposite of our barks.  A man who owes tax but killed a fat goat for festivity has done more harm than good. He may be crowned a saviour for providing what the mouth enjoys for the few he knows but should also be stoned for depriving the hundreds he knows not, some social amenities. Why we do what we do matters just as what we do.  We can't hide our shadows but it is not something to worry about when our location is right. Our deeds follow us whithersoever we go and we should always be mindful of why we do what we do because it is directly proportional to our actions and it is a constant in the consequences of our actions.
