COMMON SENSE


Our eyes are not too dim to see neither are our ears too heavy to hear the groaning and the reactions of Nigerians to the vogue. We will not be silent in this matter since we are lovers of the prosperity of this nation. We believe whatever happens has a source and very few of the sources is what this piece addresses. I may not see the way you do but justice and sanity are what lye at the finishing line.

Our almighty media houses, great and fantastic in their work; bringing us relief as they give us life transforming entertainment. They do not only entertain us for relaxation, they also entertain us sexually. They prefer to transmit sensual musical videos and pornographic movies in order to draw viewers to themselves so they can get maximum influence. Such musical videos encourage illicit sexual activities and social vices that has not only polluted the hearts of the viewers but has also increased the rate of crime in our dear society.

It is of no need asking if there is any government establishment managing and controlling the release of musical albums and movies, because they are sure to exist. These bodies have done nothing less than contributing to putting us in the lugubrious situation we are in. It is no better than having no body in charge of such regulation, if they are there and their work is nowhere to be felt or seen. It is a thing of shame when your eagle cannot lift a chick due to the grease on your claws.

I will not spare the ones called “celebrities” for they are stakeholders in driving us into this squalor. I am no kill joy and I do not intend to denigrate your positions or achievements. But your supercilious actions are setting lives and destinies to Seoul. Must your entertainment have its roots in sexual interactions? Must you influence lives with your unhealthy lifestyles? You could produce movies with great influence drawn from positive mindset and imaginations. Who told you, you cannot make it without dosages of obscenity? Hope you know that your life is not only about you? Millions are connected to you and you affect them the one way or the other.

I am too harsh, you think? Nothing is harsher than taking a green field from its legal owner with an armour tank. She becomes useless to herself and her community, depressed and goes about destitute of hope and honour.  Sanity needs be restored into this nation and the world at large. Can we go back in time to take a glimpse of what the world looked like ten years ago and what it is now? Several things being encouraged now were never supported by many. Such were rebuked thoroughly. Things were not in devastation as the world is now because the majority had good societal values.

Shall we not saddle our horses and get ourselves prepared for a good present and a better future where teenage ladies will walk freely on the streets without fear; a place where virgins are not as scarce as diamond and a young girl can play on her pants without panting? We need be the people commonsensically disciplined we used to be and not be in want of values.

  REPORIENTATION SEMBLANCE Why wear the coats of a servant when you know the shoes of a king is what suits you?  We appear to kneel but our hearts sits like a queen. Our voices say good morning but our faces have a firm grip on rods,  beating breath out of man on a bad morning.  We are the exact opposite of our barks.  A man who owes tax but killed a fat goat for festivity has done more harm than good. He may be crowned a saviour for providing what the mouth enjoys for the few he knows but should also be stoned for depriving the hundreds he knows not, some social amenities. Why we do what we do matters just as what we do.  We can't hide our shadows but it is not something to worry about when our location is right.
