WHY
WHY?
A man once told me, “Never be too comfortable in a place, because when you do, it brings destruction”.
Deep in thought on what's next in the line of action. A bit of flash here and there, going down history lane, I begin to wonder what manner of life it is.
276 Chibok school girls were kidnapped.
The presidential convoy was attacked for the first time in the history of the country.
Abuja – Kaduna Rail line bombing.
Lagos toll gate END SARS killing on October 20, 2020.
Insecurity in the North.
Sit at home in the East.
Corruption everywhere.
The health sector crashing with each passing day.
Tertiary institutions going on strike becoming a norm.
Labour’s complaints of low pay and the legislators’ huge salaries.
Unemployment on the increase.
The incessant value drop of the Naira.
My heart skips as the question drops “Why did these events occur in the first place?”, “What exactly went wrong?”, “Are we going to continue on this path?”, “When exactly are we going to get it right?”
We are all looking for who to blame and we often neglect to always ask WHY it all happened in the first place. Why are we so quick to move on after these things happen?
Until we start asking the question why, learn from our errors, and try as much as possible not to repeat them, we might just be walking in a circle as a nation without a positive change. It is time to take responsibility for our actions, start thinking about the impact it has on others, and stop being self-centered. Till a lesson is learned, we will not grow as a nation.
…and for a better Nigeria, I will not have a hand in the non-progressive journey.
